Cameron Sankey describes his relationship with music to the air we breathe: it is always here and will always be here, yet it is continuously evolving. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Cameron Sankey grew up watching his father, William Sankey, Jr. and uncle, Theofee Sankey, get lost in the music. Music was a real person to them as if it was actually in the room. Witnessing this along with watching the DVD of Earth, Wind, and Fire’s Live at Velfarre concert, he knew he could turn his passion into a profession. Cameron’s colorful, contemporary yet disciplined and foundational sound began at age 3. He began playing piano at age 7. He credits not only Earth, Wind, and Fire but also Yellowjacket’s pianist, Russell Ferrante, David Foster, Cedric Thomas, and Anita Baker as artists who have fueled him forward.
The longevity of Cameron’s career enabled him to share the stage with gospel artist, Jonathan Nelson and R & B crooner, Anthony Hamilton. Cameron has also had the distinct honor to play with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and record a single with Regina Belle Moreover, he has recorded an album with Noel Gourdin and Fresh the Definition. Cameron’s talents have evolved to serving as musical director and co-producer on three albums with Micah Stampley: To the King...Vertical Worship, Release Me, and One Voice. Most recently, Cameron produced and played with his life-long friend and influencer, E. Tony Gaines on his single, He’s Alright - a 1987 Edwin Hawkins remake.
Marriage matters to Cameron and his wife, Courtney Sankey. This father of five children has managed to create a project due for release in 2021. Cameron serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Playworx Music Group, a company that provides a wide range of musical services ranging from recording to live musical presentations.
